11 story building

11 story building

(OP)
Hello all,

Can any of you guide me into geotechnical parameters I need to be testing for in regarding to the following:

Information for seismic considerations in regard to SLOPE INSTABILITY, LIQUEFACTION, AND SURFACE RUPTURE DUE TO FAULTING OR LATERAL SPREADING. I found a software for the liquefaction analysis (LiqIT), but I do not know how accurate it is. Has anyone used it in the past? If so do you have any recommendations that you can provide for interpretating the computed data? my building is 11 stories, and column loads are in the range of 4000 kips (3300 kips dead load).  Any information that you have in regard to seismic design will be appreciated.

thank you

RE: 11 story building

it sounds like you need an experienced geotechnical engineer to help you.

RE: 11 story building

cvg summed it up pretty well.  What necessity is "liquefaction" software if your site isn't liquefiable?  You talk about seismic slope stability and yet the project is an 11 storey building?  Before you use any "software" you need to understand that basics of soil dynamics and seismic events - and how they relate.  Get an experienced geotech to help - a building of this size should have a Project Geotechnical Engineer.  If you are the project geotechnical engineer - find a mentor!
