Tapping...1mm default?.....what gives?

(OP)
Hey All,

We're tapping in inch.  Using advanced machining in R17.  The problem is that the feed defaults to .039in (1mm)and can not be changed.

How can we go about changing this value?

RE: Tapping...1mm default?.....what gives?

Hi Dean:
The feed parameter in Tapping operation is a function of the RPM and the PITCH defined. Pitch can be entered at the tool~Technology~Pitch field and also at the Geometry defenition tab of the Tapping operation. The tool Pitch value will dominate over the Geometry Def. Pitch value, so make sure both the values are the same to get best results. FR=RPM*IPR

Kind Regards
Zac.
