Post Indicator Valve

(OP)
I am installing a double check valve/backflow preventer assembly on an un-metered 6" fire sprinkler line. The question came up whether or not I should include a post indicator valve (PIV) in this assembly. I know what they look like, but have no idea when they are or not required. Can anybody shed some light on this?

RE: Post Indicator Valve

Ask the local fire department who will answer any calls whether they want one.

They would be the one to use it.
