Dredging Hose and Pipe

(OP)
I have a general type question for you dredgers out there.

The plant I work at has about 75 km of tailings and hydrotransport pipelines 24"/26"/28" diameter.  We convey oilsand slurry or the same slurry withthe oil removed (tailings).  The material has a d50 of about 150 to 200 and the max particle size is about 2 inches.

We use just about every thing under the sun for pipe materials, coatings, welded overlays etc.  I was interested to find out what dredgers use and what kind of life they get in service.

Recently we have been looking at self-floating dredge hose to get tailings out to a deposition barge that in is a pond off shore about 600 feet.  Currenly we use HDPE pipe with floaters to run the line out, and were evaluating using the dredge hose.  Anyone use this?  What kind of service life and material being conveyed?

Anything would be of interest.

Thanks!

Dear petern1;

You may find some reaction and feed-back from: http://www.e-s.de/

The are quite special in manufacturing (floating) dredger hoses etc.
And of course doing their own R&D
