Dimensioning in a section or view /SW-2008

(OP)
We have just loaded SW 2008. I have two questions. Can you adjust the size of the green broken line box that goes around a section or a view in a drawing? I am trying to dimension from a part edge to the edge of a hatch area. I try to insert a point or a line so it will work but it keeps telling me no good connot create a dim. My guess is the view next to it may overlap i.e. (green broken line box) around each section or view. If you have any suggestions please let me know....Thanks

RE: Dimensioning in a section or view /SW-2008

You should post this in the SolidWorks forum here: forum559: SolidWorks 3D CAD products

I would probably create a split line for the hatch area in the model file, that will give you geometry that you can dimension to in the drawing file.

Bonzi -

The view border you're referring to cannot be adjusted. If you need to add a sketch line to a view in order to have an anchor for your dimension, you can either 1) Right click on the view you want to add a sketch entity to and select Lock View Focus, or 2) Hide the view that overlaps the view you're trying to work in.

Hope that makes sense....
