parent / child relationship between parts
(OP)
Hi everybody!
my first post, im very excited and hope you could help.
i am looking for a way to creat a relationship between parts. so that when i change an old revision of a part the new revision(s) will update that change as well.
if i am not clear please tell me.
thanx!

Hmmm, I'm not sure about how others would handle this, but I would never change an old revision part. The whole idea of creating a revision is to record the design of a part at a particular point in time.

what if i have that part, and a number of versions of it, each with mounting holes at a different place.
now i want to change it's material or any other attribute.
how can i do it so it'll update all versions?

Going off of your example, create the base part without holes. Then create an assembly and apply the holes at the assembly level. This would, in many cases, mirror how the part is created. Raw part->machined part.
