Solidworks CMM Software

Solidworks CMM Software

Solidworks CMM Software

(OP)
Good afternoon, I have a question.   I have a manual CMM with tutor software.   Tutor is very old and I cannot reference a 3D model to the points I measure.   I am currently importing a point cloud and creating an inspection report manually.   This really sucks and is VERY time consuming.   The owner of the company doesn't want to spend alot on new software.   Ideally i would like to be able to measure a point cloud on the CMM, import the cloud into Solidworks and have the software create an inspection report from the model and point cloud.   Not sure if AccuMetria is capable of this or not.   Any help would be great.   Thanks!

RE: Solidworks CMM Software

If you have SolidWorks Office Premium you can activate ScanTo3D, simply click Tools, Add-Ins, and select ScanTo3D.

This will allow you to open point cloud files and convert them to solid data.

If you don't have Office Premium, you can try to get an IGES file of the point cloud, then manually create the surfaces and solids you need in SolidWorks (warning: this can be very time consuming).

Finally, there are other products in the market that can convert point cloud data to surfaces or solids (e.g. geomagic http://www.geomagic.com ). And there is also reverse engineering software such as dezignworks and revworks:
