ASME B31.3 CBT Experiences

I would be interested in others' experiences with the referenced ASME CD.  I believe the errors and inconsistent rounding of values detracted from the overall experience.  Certainly the issues I have with the CD's technical quality resulted in an effort to discriminate good data from bad data.  Perhaps this increased effort to understand the technical content is a plus, but I could have done without the technical issues.  I hope the online assessment isn't as inconsistent as the review material.  I'd really like to pass :)  Just my opinion...  Jeff

RE: ASME B31.3 CBT Experiences

Hi Jeff

I found the same thing and the on line assessment does have some errors, however they aren't so bad as to prevent you from passing.  With regards to your question in your previous post I suggest you call ASME to set up the online assessment as there is not a specific link to take the test. Some one at ASME has to setup the module for you on the online testing section of their website, they will provide you with instructions.

I also took their CD training for ASME Section VIII Div 1.  I found it dissapointing for what I paid.  Having questions with answers to test your knowledege was nice but I found the instructional material no more useful than just having the code book to read through.  For both the B31.3 and Section VIII Div 1 CD training courses I would suggest anyone who is considering taking them save their money and purchase some good reference books on the subject, unless you are just looking for a peice of paper to say you took the training.

Aconnell -- I also plowed through the VIII-1 CD years ago, but was hoping things had changed... unfortunately not.  And some of the errors are, if I can say this without appearing arrogant, very bad.  I began writing down all the errors (to relay to ASME), but found I was spending more time documenting these than working on the technical content of the workbook examples.  Disappointing to say the least.  I wonder why this is the case?  Jeff
