Regulation of the water treant for the boiler feeding water!

Regulation of the water treant for the boiler feeding water!

Regulation of the water treant for the boiler feeding water!

(OP)
Hello,

I think lots of contries have their own standard for the feeding water treatment to the boiler.

Is there any country which that standard is mandatory or regulates the water condition for boiler.

Thank you!!

RE: Regulation of the water treant for the boiler feeding water!

Here are some excerpts of typical State regulations:

"A State's Division of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety regulates the construction, installation, operation, inspection and repair of boilers and pressure vessels throughout a state. Due to the potential risks and hazards involved with the usage of boilers and pressure vessels, each State has a Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Act tha is adopted to safeguard the citizens."

"Power boilers shall be inspected annually both internally and externally while not under pressure and shall also be inspected annually externally while under pressure if possible; provided that any power boiler or steam generator, the operation of which is an integral part of or a necessary adjunct to other continuous processing operations, shall be inspected internally at such intervals as are permitted by the shutting down of the processing operations."

"A) The analysis and treatment of feedwater for such power boilers shall be under the supervision of a person qualified in the field of water chemistry.
B) The analysis and treatment of the boiler feedwater shall be for the purpose of controlling and limiting serious deteriorating, encrusting and slugging factors affecting the safety of the boiler."

Regulations of boilers are based on the risks to the general public from boiler explosions rather than a concern about water quality and economical operation of the boiler. Controlling and limiting serious deteriorating, encrusting and slugging factors affecting the safety of the boiler is more of a concern than limiting the scaling for best heat transfer and boiler efficiency.

Fro US and North America, most popular are EPRI guidelines, you can digg there a little.
For EU countries, as well, some of plants are using EPRI's , but some are using the German VGB's standards and guidelines.
Two sources are very similar, with no significant differences.
