I was asked about corrosion resistant springs for a boat trailer used on the Texas coast. These trailers are  backed into the water to launch and have to be replaced in a few years .Is there a SS that would do better ? I did some jobs years ago, 1970s, on Padre Island and there you didn't have to dunk things into water the high moisture/salt/temperature did a great job on everything !Retired now I'm somewhat out of the loop .Anything available in newer SS ?

RE: SS Springs

I would think that 2205 might be an option.  The high strength would be nice also.  I would have to think about fatigue limit, I am not sure off of the top of my head.

RE: SS Springs

The 2205 would work fine since it has a PREN of 35. That's enough to resist corrosion when immersed in sea water. However 2003 with a PREN of 30 would be cheaper and good enough.
