API 5L v.s. SA53 GrB (W)

API 5L v.s. SA53 GrB (W)

API 5L v.s. SA53 GrB (W)

(OP)
Dear collegues,

As there are no ASME pipes of this diameter presently available in our market is that we intend to fabricate a 24" OD vessel with the only pipe you can get, that is API 5L Gr B.

As this latter is not an ASME material I would assimilate it as SA53 Gr.B based on the following considerations:
a)I assume it is a "Material not fully Identified" acc. to UG-10(C)(2), and do mechanical and chemical testing which if I´m not wrong, would match with SA53GrB (W)
b)The provisions of UG-10(b)(2) (c)(d)(e) are fulfilled
c)Acc. to UG-4(b), for materials which do not identify acc. to UG-93 their allowable stresses should be penalized by 0.87. Should this statement also be considered?

If any of you had faced a similar problem, please let me know your experience and/or comments
Thanks in advance
