AutoCAD 2000 with MS Word???
AutoCAD 2000 with MS Word???
(OP)
I need to basically "cut and paste" an AutoCAD image into a MS Word document. Is this possible, and if so, how? If not, is it possible with Excel or maybe another office program?
Thanks!
Thanks!

RE: AutoCAD 2000 with MS Word???
I've found 2 ways of doing this:
1) Select what you want to use and export to a Windows Meta
File (*.wmf) or Bitmap File (*.bmp). Import picture into
Word;
2) The other way is to change to model space in Layout view.
Select what you need and select copy from the right
click menu. Go to Word and Paste. If you double-click
the image you can edit it. There are two problems:
a) You have to change the background of Model space to
white; &
b) I haven't found a way to link the image copy to the
original file.
I hope this helps you.

When you paste into word use the paste special option in the edit menu to set a link to the original drawing.
A word of warning though, if you change the linked drawing in autocad it will change in word when the link is updated.
On our setup we have the layout view set to white and the model view set to black. This way when cutting and pasting there is no need to do it from model space, just select the view port and copy it to word.

Once on the clipboard, just paste into Word or you can paste it into Paint and save it as a BMP file.

The major problem with the <alt><printscreen> method is that you get the whole screen and not just the portion you want, which is fine for demo purposes but not that good for reports.

Press Alt+PrintScreen you get only the Autocad Window
2) Winword version-2 has dxf graphic filter. Wherein you can import graphics of autocad dxf. If you can dig your old copy of winword-2 just copy from the graphfltr directory this file and copy to your windows-2000 directory and import any file.
