Right type of Battery

Right type of Battery

Right type of Battery

(OP)
Currently I'm using two 12 volt Lead Acid batteries to power a solar boat, rated at I believe 30AH combined. I'm strongly looking into Lithium-Ion batteries to save weight(about 40 pounds). I'm curious to know however, do the 12v Lithium batteries equal the voltage of the Lead-Acid which charge to almost 13 volts? I've been doing a lot of research on different types of 12 volt Lithium, and would love any information on a cheaper source for them. I need at least a 30AH rating, more would obviously be better, using 2-4 batteries. Is a maximum price of $200-300 per battery too much to hope for? If it is would NiCad be the best way to go?

RE: Right type of Battery

Check all-battery.com.  They have a nice selection and pretty good prices.  They also provide super-fast email response, you should send them your questions.  Even if you don't find any batteries to your liking or price there, you will probably get some expert advice on battery technologies.

Also, you might consider NiMH batteries.

RE: Right type of Battery

Valence batteries in Texas have the highest energy gradient lithium batteries. Cost is competitive if life time replacement cost comparison is made.
