User Tab Reappears in New Doc's Window

User Tab Reappears in New Doc's Window

User Tab Reappears in New Doc's Window

(OP)
Good morning, I just installed SW2008 SP1.1 and now for the most part it is pretty good once you get used to all of the new locations and appearances.  In SW2006 we had someone add a custom tab in the New Documents window and I go it to go away by removing the tutorial path in options.  After the installation, I noticed that the tab is back and I have checked all of the file locations in options and there is no tutorial path to be found.  Cnn anyone tell me where this tab is now coming from?  The person who made it is no long with our company, so I can not ask him.  Thank you in advance for any assistance.

RE: User Tab Reappears in New Doc's Window

Did you do a search in windows explorer for "Tutorials"?  If you find it you can delete or (better yet) move the folder, and that should get rid of the tab.  On my computer it's located at: C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\lang\english\Tutorial

Check the document templates locations listed under TOOLS -OPTIONS - FILE LOCATIONS - DOCUMENT TEMPLATES.

Also a folder added to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2008\templates will create an additional tab.

Thanks for thr responses.  Eltron, I have located the directory and on my pc it is at C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\SolidWorks\lang\english\Tutorials, but it is in no path in my options.  meintsi, I have open each of my templets in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2008\templates and they are OK and that one model in the custome tab is not on any network drive, because I have searched all of the network drives.

If you move or change the name of that folder what happens to the tab?

Thanks again for the response.  This is the baffling part, I changed the name of the Tutorial directory to Tutorial_OLD and the tab is still there.  The Templets directory and Design library directory are the one 2 directories I keep from the old SW2006 and I deleted everything else in the old Sw2006, because it was so much trouble.

RE: User Tab Reappears in New Doc's Window

Sorry, to keep asking questions, but what is in the tutorial folder?  Does it match what shows up in the Tutorial tab?

Thanks again Eltron, no problem about questions.  This is were it gets real strange, only 3 file in that Directory, Draw, Assem and Part.  I have been scanning everywhere on the network for that file and it keeps coming up as no file found.  How is that for strange?

Finally found it, it was in one of those hiden directory so it was not being searched.  I deleted it and like the model, the tab is now gone as well.  Thanks for the help.
