I'm trying to learn more about the use of photo enforcement of red lights at intersections. any suggestions on where to learn about the different options available, costs, number of installations in the US, and their effectiveness?
i'm also trying to figure out how many traffic lights there are in the US. any ideas on how to find out?
thanks
abbey

You may want to try contacting Sam Chamberlin at the Fairfax County Office of Transportation in Fairfax Virginia, they are involved in such a prorgam now.

RE: Photo Enforcement and Red Light Signals

The City of Charlotte, North Carolina has a program in force that monitors vehciles passing the stop bar after the red light has been activated.  I also heard rumors that New York City was investigating such a program.
