Inventer for Modeling Concrete Components

Does anyone know if Inventor can be used to model concrete components with steel embedments like a plate with nelson studs?

RE: Inventer for Modeling Concrete Components

It could certainly model the geometry.

As far as FEA (stress analysis), the built-in "Ansys-Lite" solver is not capable of modelling mulitple-part assemblies, multiple materials, etc.  The full version of Ansys would have to be purchased; at that point you would probably want to investigate other FEA software packages.

Thanks for the info.
The FEA would be done with other programs.  Basically we need to model a solid with another solid inside of it of a different material.

Example:  A precast beam has rebar and other steel items embedded in the concrete solid.  Would one be able to model this with Inventor?  See attached drawing showing a reinforcing section.

RE: Inventer for Modeling Concrete Components

Yes, it can model the geometry of the precast section, as an assembly.  You would model the bars and the stirrup as individual parts, then place them in alignment in an assembly file.  You could then model the concrete as a block that is joined to the reinforcements (essentially perfect fit), or pre-model the concrete with voids left in it for the reinforcements (might be useful if you needed to model a beam having gaps b/n rebar and concrete)

Thanks again
