Equivalent command for Hem & Edge Flange

Equivalent command for Hem & Edge Flange

Equivalent command for Hem & Edge Flange

(OP)
The image shows a sheet metal part with a hem feature.

In SW the hem feature will not work for this case as it accepts only linear edges. I was successful in using a edge flange feature with a very small bend radius (1/8th of the sheet thickness) & a very large angle (179degrees).

I have multiple configurations for this part & the position of this feature varies linearly. I have created a cut extrude with the center line of cut made collinear to a plane. I have used the edge of the cut portion to create the edge flange as stated above. I vary the distance of the plane in different configs to achive the different positons of this feature.

The problem is when I change the config & the cut along with the edge flange moves to a different position the edge flange shows a rebuild error.

PAIN AREA: When I edit this feature & say ok without changing any other things it updates and there are no errors. This happens each time the position changes.

Is there a way to rectify this so that the part shows up without any errors when I change the configs?
OR
Is there a better way to do this?

RE: Equivalent command for Hem & Edge Flange

It worked OK for me with SW07-SP5.

However, have you produced an actual sample of the part yet? The deformation and stretching of the material in the hem looks to be substantial, if not excessive. Can you or your sheet metal shop actually create that hem?

Can you upload the part for a closer look?

cheers

Thanks CBL. I am using SP2.2 at present & that might be the problem. It's time I update my SP :)

I agree the stretching looks a bit substantial... but is doable & I have got a sample from my shop. I may have to reduce the length of the hem a little in the model.
