Wind Turbine Structural Design

Wind Turbine Structural Design

Wind Turbine Structural Design

(OP)
AJNicol Scotland - Energy Engineer. Do any of you have (or are you able to suggest)papers or guidance relating to the structural design and load calculations for large wind turbines (tower and foundation, piling methods)

Are rock anchors ever used? and if so do these need re-tensioned in time?

In particular is it necessary to take account of rotor torque, thrust and gyroscopic loads in tower, bolt ring and foundation design or does one assume a simple static loading an apply a FOS?

Could do with some pointers for appropriate literature (preferably in English or German but not in Danish)

Thanks

AJN
