Adding "DateCompleted" to existing SW files

Adding "DateCompleted" to existing SW files

Adding "DateCompleted" to existing SW files

(OP)
Does anyone have a macro / API code for adding the DateCompleted to existing SW parts / assemblies. I can get it to add into new files by adding it to the custom properties in the templates. I've also added it to the custom properties in the Vault Admin tool.

The problem I have is PDMWorks won't populate the field in old files, it adds the DateCompleted field but doesn't fill it in.

SW gets the info of $PRP:"SW-Long Date" from the clock on your pc, but it's a limitation of the software at the moment.

We've looked into checking the files out of the vault and trying to add the custom property using Task Scheduler but there is a bug which isn't fixed until 2008 SP1.0 and were going to be on 2007 for a while longer.

Any ideas??

Thanks

Woolly

P.S You may be wondering wht I want to add the date completed to old data. The reason is to aid in achiving data that has been up-issued in the vault by using the date as a search. At the moment there is no way to search by date in PDMWorks or the Vault Admin tool.

RE: Adding "DateCompleted" to existing SW files

Well, since you've got no answer yet, I'll provide a possible arrow to point you in a possible direction.  Check out this Time Stamp print shortcut macro:

If may have methods you can use in the macro you evidently create to do your task.
