Vibration Test Fixture
Vibration Test Fixture
(OP)
Is there a good book or article which describes how to design and test a good fixture for vibration testing (say for random vibration testing of small electronics products)
Some ideas....
Simulate the mass of the test specimen and weight distribution if possible.
Test the fixture with the mass attached and look for resonances and damping.
If possible keep the test fixture resonances outside of the test spectrum.
Keep the resonance damping high so that the resonance peaks are low.
Don't just measure the resonance of the fixture in the plane that is being tested....also measure in the other two planes.
Casting is better than milled or plates.
Use stiffeners to break up the fixture into irregular sizes.
Bookends are better than L brackets.
Any other advice or tips?
Does anyone have a good procedure for designing and testing a test fixture for vibration test?

RE: Vibration Test Fixture
Also, most of the classes are in las Vegas, Nv. so you can also evaluate the laws of probability while you are there.

There must be some fundamentals to the design and how to evaluate and refine it.
