We have 2 PSVs  installed with 2* 100% capacity (for on-line testing). We now on-line both PSVs. Each PSV is planned to test set pressure every year. If we isolate one PSVs (still hook-up). Can we extend testing period to every 2 yrs?

My idea is we can't, we have to test all PSVs every yeas, but I can't find in API. Are there in ASME 8, unfortunately it's lost from my office.

If u know what API part, PLs informs.

Thank you

RE: ASME 8 , PSV Testing

I haven't been involved with any Section 8 wrok for a few years, but AFAICR the code does not specify periods between tests.  That is left up to the individual maintenance and/or safety programs.

ASME Sec. VIII does not address test frequency.
National Board Inspection Code, NBIC, Part RB-3500 addresses Inservice Inspection.
NBIC RB-3560, f. recommends the following frequencies:
Steam -Annual
Air/Clean Dry Gasses - Every Three Years
Propane & Refrigerant - Every FIve Years
All Others - Per Inspection History

ASME Sec. VII, Recommended Care of Power Boilers recommends:
Boiler Safety Valves - Annual
Off-Boiler service PSVs - six month to two years depending on service history.
