Cosmos motion- Torsion damper is not functioning
Cosmos motion- Torsion damper is not functioning
(OP)
Hi,
If someone could please help.
I am running a motion simulation on an A arm suspension, and I apply a torsion spring and Damper to a joint to create a spring damper system. However, when i run the simulation only the spring takes affect, and regarsdless how much I increase the damping coefficient, the system doesnot damp. It seems as if the damper component is being considered in the simulation.
I am running COSMOS motion 2006
are there any suggestion?
Thanks

RE: Cosmos motion- Torsion damper is not functioning
depends on what you mean by "doesn't damp". If your timesteps are too large, you may skip any effect; same thing if your load application is static or quasi-static.

By not Damping I mean that the tosrsion spring does cause the A arm suspension to oscillate when displaced, but the systems amplitude isnt being reduced. In other words the system acts as if it didnt have a torision damper acting on it, no matter how great the damping coeffient is.
As for the time step, I dont know where that is set in program; likewise withe the load application settings. I believe the load is static. I loaded only the chasis side of the suspension. the arms and wheel carrier are massles.
