mesuring distance on a composite curve

mesuring distance on a composite curve

mesuring distance on a composite curve

(OP)
hi everyone,

could anyone solve my case:

I need to divide and mesure distance on composite curves, for example, a line followed by an arc followed by another line.
I use solidworks 2008.

please, help, I really can't find how to do it.

RE: mesuring distance on a composite curve

Please expand upon what you need ... with an image if possible.

Are all the lines and arcs to be the same length?

cheers

RE: mesuring distance on a composite curve

One way would be to use the Split Entities tool to break the composite curve into seven pieces, and then use an Equal constraint on them.

cheers

RE: mesuring distance on a composite curve

Pull the roll bar up so that only the feature is suppressed.
Highlight the composite curve in the tree and hit the measure tool ....

RE: mesuring distance on a composite curve

You may be able to achieve what you desire with a composite curve and a curve driven pattern.  You may have to create some geometry specifically for the pattern.

If the equality does not need to be precise, a simpler version of CorBlimeyLimey’s suggestion would be to use line segments constrained to be on the curves and have equal length, (think approximating a circle with a polygon).  The make path sketch tool may help by allowing the line end points to cross between the arcs.
