Nastran Shell Loads

Nastran Shell Loads

Nastran Shell Loads

(OP)
Hello All,
I have a basic question about Cquad's in Nastran. Suppose I apply bending moment to a cantilevered plate modeled using cquad4 would all the moment react as couple and show up as Fx in the shell element results or should I check Mx and then calculate the bending stress by hand and compare it with nastran? Thanks in advance.

RE: Nastran Shell Loads

Hi,

Unfortunately I have no answer to your question, but maybe you or someone else could answer one to me. I need to check the stress output due to bending moment by hand, on a cquad4 element. Besides the thickness of the shell, which output of the element I use (on Patran)? Internal forces on the node, element bending and the face length? Which equation I use?
Thanks in advance!

RE: Nastran Shell Loads

The answers to both your questions are very very easy and basic, but i will not give answers to you.
Deployedsearch, i take it that you have some understanding of stress and entering into FE, if so then you will be able to determine the correct answers by comparison ith the hand results. If you cant do that then give up now!
Meng1982; Its bad form to jump into somebodies post, you should start your own. Post processing can give you any answers you want depending upon what you want to show and how you let the PC determine the numbers. Have a read of the online help manuals and there is a part (about 200 pages) which covers the basics of post processing. You need to understand what you doing with the FE to make it sensible.

Off high horse now..
