Zoom to Fit Not Working With Isometric View
Zoom to Fit Not Working With Isometric View
(OP)
I was messing around with the attached part and zoom to fit is not working properly (see picture). Isometric view is not centering the view, and is instead pushing my part to the top right of the screen. This first linear pattern is pushing the model to the right side of the screen, and the second is pushing the model to the top of the screen. Does anyone know what is causing this and/or how to stop it? I have installed SW2008 SP1.0 onto Windows XP, with dual moniters and NVIDIA Quadro FX 1300 video card.

I don't see any other geometry that would do this.

I'll take a look at your file and see. It looks cool.
Did you happen to use an Imposometric View to create it?

It is because the Part like I expected is just an optical illusion but I have a solution.
It turns out that the fit only applies to shown geometry so I created a 2d sketch to do the same thing your 3D sketch did. Then showed the sketch and made it the same color as the background.
I also centered the origin for you using 2/3 ratio

fcsuper: the origin of the original part is in the center of the right most cube.
mjcole: thank you. the triangle is somewhat famous and there is even a name for it (though I can't think of it right now). Your method it is pretty clever. I'll keep that trick in my back pocket if it ever becomes critical.

I wonder if it isn't something in your part template itself? If it were a graphics issue, then it shouldn't migrate between systems. Very strange.

You are correct (no stray entities).
After creating your last triangle in SW07;
When viewed flat on, it is centred in the screen as expected. Any XXXmetric view pushes it to top-centre. I have no idea why it should do that.
