ASTM B633 Type ??, Class??, ILO QQ-Z-325, Type II, Class 3

We have a requirement to ZINC plate an item per QQ-Z-325, Type II, CLASS 3. (spec now cancelled).  What TYPE, Class, etc. per ASTM B633 would replace it.

RE: ASTM B633 Type ??, Class??, ILO QQ-Z-325, Type II, Class 3

I think that the QQ spec appied to the thickness required and whether chromated or not.  I used it about a generation ago.

RE: ASTM B633 Type ??, Class??, ILO QQ-Z-325, Type II, Class 3

A quick Google shows that QQ-Z-325 Type II includes supplementary chromate treatment and Class 3 thickness, 0.0002".

ASTM B 695 reflects classes 5 through 110 in terms of the thicknes in micrometers.  Type II is with colored chromate conversion treatment per appendix X2.2.

RE: ASTM B633 Type ??, Class??, ILO QQ-Z-325, Type II, Class 3

I believe an equivalent ASTM B633 callout is Type II, Class Fe/Zn5. Note that ASTM B695 is a mechanical zinc coating, not an electroplate such as B633 and the old QQ-Z-325.
