RE: any reference material for packer design/calculation

The only downhole tools that I know of that has design parameters specified by the petroleum industry are the downhole safety valves.

I do not know of a book that has the calculations and methods in that are used in packer tool design. A lot of companies like Baker Oil Tools has their own design manuals. The old Otis ( before Halliburton put everything under its name) had a great design manual.

Most packer people use Lames for burst and collapse although I have seen some use Von Mises. I suggest that you get a Baker Tech Facts book- write Baker and ask for it. It has all the oilfield threaded connecions that you will be designing your tools to have.

If you have any other questions let me know.
