(OP)
Anyone ever read "Empires of light"? I have seen the story of Edison, Tesla, and George on several History channel and Discoverly channel specials and read about the war of the currents on several web sites dedicated to those guys but this book is a great read, picked it up this weekend and cant put it down.

RE: History buffs

Who is the author and publisher of this book? From where we get it ?

RE: History buffs

I read Empires of Light and found it to be a great read. Edison, Telsa, and Westinghouse certainly were ruthless in the battle to win the standardization between AC verses DC. It is interesting to see that DC for some applications is again proving to have value and merit.

Another book similar to Empires of Light is called Fleet Fire. It too also discussed Edison and his battles with Westinghouse.

Another book or series of books that are very interesting and conver the history of power engineering is called Vistas in Power Engineering by Phillip Sporn. It is long out of print now, but is a 3 volume set. Anyone interested in the history and development of the power industry may find this interesting.
