Does anyone know how to design for victaulic joins in pressure piping and B31 codes?

What SIF is used to model the vic joints?

thanks

RE: Victaulic joint stress

Kevin,

Have you contacted the manufacturer ?

I seem to remember some old tech papers addressing this B31.1 SIF  issue

RE: Victaulic joint stress

KevinNZ,

There is individual from Victaulic that is on the ASME B31.3 Process Pipng Code committee, Dan Christan.  You might still contact him at email, dchristian@victaulic.com ;

I think the groove dimension was comparable to the threaded pipe wall thickness removed by cutting the pipe thread, so that victaulic piping pressure design was equivalent to the threaded piping systems.  I'm not sure what allowance is used for larger sizes beyond common threaded piping sizes.
