Assembly rotary simulation Error??

Assembly rotary simulation Error??

Assembly rotary simulation Error??

(OP)
I am trying to create a cylinder lock that turns a shackle to lock/unlock a door.  (If youre not familiar with cylinder locks, it is a movable inner cylinder co-centric with a stationary outer  cylinder.)  And I have the part files complete and the assembly together (with a key inserted), but when I try to simulate a rotary motion for the inner cylinder, it pops up an error about there being collisions at the start of the motion EVEN THOUGH I checked for interferences and there were none.  Furthermore, I found that I cant use the Move tool to even make a manual rotary motion of the inner cylinder.  Any ideas as to why this isnt working??

Thanks a ton

RE: Assembly rotary simulation Error??

Do you have the mates set to allow the rotary motion?
You should be able to just grab the key and rotate it without using the Move or simulation/animation tool.

cheers

RE: Assembly rotary simulation Error??

Also, you will get the error if your parts are touching at all during the motion.  I believe you should be able to ignore the error and continue with the motion.  However, as CBL stated, you should be able to drag the components through the motion before you start the simulation.
