Terrible performance with FX1300

Terrible performance with FX1300

Terrible performance with FX1300

(OP)
I have just got a "newer" video card, a Quador FX1300.  I am running xp 64, 1.5 GB of Ram, and and AMD Athlon 3200+.  I am experienceing terrible performance with this card.  I think that SW 2007 ran better off of the onboard video slot that I was using before this.  I have downloaded the lastest drivers from Nvidia's site, and also tried the recommended drives off of SW's homepage.

An example of the performance.  I have a small assembly of 30-40 parts, it rotates very, very slow, and all of the parts turn to blocks while I am rotating it.  The rotation is very jerky and not smooth like I have seen on others machines that I have used.

Any help is apperciated,

Thanks,

The great white muffalo

RE: Terrible performance with FX1300

Does the problem improve when the hardware OpenGL is disabled?

Were the drivers properly uninstalled before installing the new ones?

cheers

I do have the Solidworks profile selected in the video card settings.

I will try the hardware Opengl and let you know.

I did not uninstall the old drivers, i just updated them.

Thanks

I tried to disable the hardware OpenGL, but the "Use Software Open GL" is checked and greyed out, so it cannot be selected???

I wonder if this is a problem with the x64 video drivers, because it works fine on my 32 OS

RE: Terrible performance with FX1300

Try uninstalling the driver and installing the ones for the 64-bit... I have never seen the Nvidia drivers work well when they are updated.

RE: Terrible performance with FX1300

I have tracked this problem down to only occuring when I have all of the parts in the assembly set as read only.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I am working with the files this way because I am modifying these particular assemblies and don't want to accidently save changes to the parts that will not be modified.  Any suggestions to work around this would be appreciated as well.  I am not running PDM works, would it help this problem?

Thanks.
