Lost assembly capability

Lost assembly capability

Lost assembly capability

(OP)
From the drop down menus 'assemblies', I basically no longer have anything in this menu.  I reset menus and nothing; I can manually add the items back, but they are grayed out and I cannot use them.  I am dead in the water, I cannot assemble anything, right clicking on an assembled part no longer lets me choose 'mate' either. The licence still shows as p1... my IT guy was of no help and it is too late to get help from our UG contact.  Everything else seems to work fine, is this just something simple I am missing or do I have issues?  Thanks in advance.

RE: Lost assembly capability

You have to say what version you're using.
I can give you a quick answer that may help for versions up to NX-3 because I know as much from memory. Look under the applications tab across the top of the screen. One of the items listed will be Assemblies. If it has a tick alongside then do nothing, but if not just click on it. Nothing will have apparently happened if you clicked on it, but if you pull down the application tab again then the tick should have appeared. In some installations the appearance of the windows layout is such that it isn't apparent that a tick box next to Assemblies in that pull down menu even exists and people don't know to tick it on.

If you have the tick turned on then you have access to an assemblies license. Some sites like to share assemblies licenses so they might tick it off by default. There is either an environment variable or more likely a customer default that will keep it turned on at the start of each session. Mostly this is the default setting.

Hope this gets you going again,

Hudson

Ooops, it is NX4.  I just left work.. hopefully response two will fix the problem.  I will check first thing in the morning.

Ok, I am back at my computer.  The restore assemblies box is already checked so that is not the issue.  And the IT guy has the info for the plm support so I cannot log onto that :(

Ok, I checked another nx4 computer.  When right clicking on a toolbar, it has the option of selecting 'assemblies' and mine give 'assemblies navigator'.  Licence issue?

Hahaha wow, so start->assemblies to turn on assemblies.  You never know how to do that until it gets turned off on accident.  I feel silly; but now I know how to get to support.
