Surface Fatigue Strength of Powder Metal Gears
Surface Fatigue Strength of Powder Metal Gears
(OP)
I am trying to find surface-fatigue strength (AGMA) for powder metal gears particularly FD-0205-95HT. This is a diffused Alloyed Steel, Fe ranging from 93.15-96.45% and Carbon .3 to .6 %.
I am tiring of waiting to hear back from the vendor while trying to complete a first pass design for the contact stress.
Thanks!!

RE: Surface Fatigue Strength of Powder Metal Gears
UTS = 105 x 10^3 psi
Elongation < 1.0%
Young's modulus = 18.0 x 10^6 psi
Poisson's ratio = 0.27
Unnotched Charpy Impact Energy = 5.0 ft*lbf
Transverse Rupture= 160 x 10^3 psi
Compressive Yield = 130 x 10^3 psi
Macro Hardness = 28 HRC Typ.
Micro Hardness = 55 HRC Typ.
Fatigue Limit = 42 x 10^3 psi
Density = 6.75 g/cm^3 Typ.
That's just the spec. If you looking for specific tested limits I can't help you much.
