Has anyone out there used autoCAD P&ID?  What are your experiences/opinions?

RE: Has anyone used AutoCAD P&ID

I tried to convince they should give me 7 seats to be a beta-tester for them, but they wouldn't do it.

I haven't used it yet, but when I was talking to them I heard a lot of "that feature is going to be in our next release."

I decidedid to go and buy cadworx P&ID instead, because all those features I needed were already there.

Right now best I can tell, it is just a good blocks library.

How is CadWorx P&ID?  Are there substantial benifits over simple AutoCAD drawing of P&ID's with no database involved?

RE: Has anyone used AutoCAD P&ID

CADworx P&ID in my opinion is awesome if your doing some very high level stuff.  i.e. databases, loop sheets, etc.

If your doing simple P&ID's with no databases it is good too.

It is kind of a learning curve, so if you are not expereinced with it, it might be tough to maniputale it to your company standards.

I don't know how the AutoCAD P&ID is for this though.  It might be the same.

Hi,

Just started using ACAD PID and got lumped with making fit company standards so I'll keep you posted on just how flexible it is.

Shenderson17 - That would be great.

I was at AU2007 and attended a couple of class on P&ID.  They made it sould easy to replace thier blocks with your own.  But it didn't sould easy to assign all the data to and existing P&ID by beaing able to select a pump block and click a button to tell P&ID that this is a pump.  and have it add all the data behind the block, or simply delete the block and insert the new one with all of the P&ID data.

I appriciate any updates you can give me. Thanks.

RE: Has anyone used AutoCAD P&ID

I tried the beta version, but it was too heavy for our needs.
