Blow By Meter?
Blow By Meter?
(OP)
I've been tasked to develop a blow-by meter for a single cylinder test engine.
I'm a little stuck and not too sure on my direction to go in.
I understand what blow by is, but a little unsure how to measure it. I was looking at gas meters and wondered if i condense the flow in a pipe and placed a venturi meter on this flow if i can back calculate the flow?
Any suggestion or and hint / direction would be much appreciated.

RE: Blow By Meter?
flattom, just like a beginning in your task, search in the thread71-150178: MEASUREMENT OF DIESEL BLOW-BY GASES.
Good luck !
RE: Blow By Meter?
We use 1 CFH/hp as a typical blowby rate from our engines.
The tool group is a small flow meter with a straightening tube that hooks up to the crankcase breather during test.
Hope that helps.

Also, a surge tank is just a big empty volume that diminishes pulsation.

On the Cat 3208 you can measure blow-by with an opacimeter meant for exhaust.
