Modeling a variable radius
Modeling a variable radius
(OP)
I'm currently using the educational version of
solidworks 2007, but don't see any info on
creating a variable radius on an edge.
Here's what I'm trying to do:
I have an edge that let's say is 6" long.
I would like to have half of the edge (3") be a
.100" chamfer and the remaining part of the
edge be a .200" chamfer blended together.
Can this be done?
Keep in mind I'm new to solidworks....Sorry....
Thanks

RE: Modeling a variable radius
Make a variable radius fillet using the values you mentioned, then loft a surface from one set of edges to the other, with no tangent end conditions. Then open the Replace Face feature and replace the face(s) of the solid with the lofted surface.
All of this should be available in your version and easy enough to figure out.
Attached part in 2007 format.

Read up on the lofting tool.
