Modifying dimensions

Modifying dimensions

Modifying dimensions

(OP)
We just finished upgrading to 2008, and all 5 out of the 6 computers we use have lost the ability to modify dimensions by using arithmetic functions (+ - * /).  If you try to use one it gives the error "please enter a number between..."  I searched options and Help, but all I found was a tip in Help that says you can use them.  Any idea as to why we may have lost this functionality, or how to fix it?

RE: Modifying dimensions

Do equations evaluate properly, or do they error as well?

Do you use any VBA macros?  Are they functioning properly?

What happens if you enter this into a dimension (not an equation):

iif(1,5,10)

Sounds like some type of corrupted install to me.  Depending on the results of the above, I'm guessing some type of DLL problem related to VBA.

RE: Modifying dimensions

I agree with handleman...sounds like a corrupt install. Did you have your anti-virus turned off?

I put "D1@Sketch1"=2 into an equation, and it gave me "The syntax of this equation is incorrect."  No we do not use macros, so I can't check that.  I tried the iif(1,5,10) in a dimension and it froze.  I rebooted and tried again, and this time gave me the same "please enter a number between..." error.  I did not do the install, IT did, so I can't say if AV was on or off.

RE: Modifying dimensions

Definitely a corrupt install.  The result of the "iif" test should have been a dimension with the value 5 rather than hanging your machine!  smile

Well that did the trick.  I was hoping I wouldn't have to go through a full re-install, but oh well.  Thanks for the help guys.
