welding a cylinder tangent to plane

i want to insert a weld bead into an assembly of two parts.  one is a cylinder, the other is a plate.  they are mated with a tangent mate.  I am having trouble selecting a bead type that will work.  We thought to use a flange weld at first but it does not work.  Anyone have a method that works?

RE: welding a cylinder tangent to plane

In SW07 Weld Beads need an intersecting edge or edges to be created. A cylinder tangent to a plate does not offer edges.

If you really need to show a solid weld bead, you may have to create a sweep, but most times a weld bead hatch in the drawing views is sufficient.

If you really, really need Weld Beads, you will have to cheat and create small flats on the cylinder to simulate edges.

cheers

I would recommend just creating an extruded profile of the weld.  Create it incontext and then insert it again for the other side of the plate.  I am picturing fillet welds on boths sides of the plate.  All the weld bead utility is... is a little function that auto creates an in-context part using an extrude or a sweep.

okay guys, thanks.  It's not a crucial thing, but we are pretty new to SW here and I wanted to check with some pros.
