Different Appearances in a Model

Different Appearances in a Model

Different Appearances in a Model

(OP)
Good afternoon, I have a model made from several different extrusions.  I would like to make three of the extrusions transparent in appearance and the rest to be standard in appearance.  I changed the three and everything changed to transparent.  I changed the ones I wanted back to standard and all changed back to standard.  I was using the change feature appearance.  Is there something that I am doing wrong that won't let me give individual feature appearances?  Is there any way of doing it?  Thank you in advance for any assistance rendered.

RE: Different Appearances in a Model

It works for me and I'm using 2005.  Only the new faces change to transparent though, any face that is an extension of an existing face stays opaque.  Unchecking "merge result" when creating the feature will fix that though.

Thanks for the responses.  I first grouped the three features I wanted to be transparent and then I selected transparent from the feature appearance.  Then I went in on one of the features I wanted to remain standard and checked the appearance setting there and it had changed to transparent and so I check some more and they were all transparent.  So I grouped the ones I wanted to be standard and changed them all to standard and sure enough everything was then standard.  None I am starting the experient with changing appearances one at a time and I am hoping that will work.

I'm on '08, and I can grab various features and make them transparent as I wish...

Thanks for the response, Jeff.  Now all I have to do is get those SW to write the licenses correctly and get IT to install 08 and then the cow will come home.  I have it kind of working, but when you look at it from the top, you see everything as transparent and when you look at it from the side or bottom, everything looks the way it should.  Go figure.  Thanks again for the help.

Thanks again for the response, but this is a new top of the line Dell and everything "should" still be up to date and running correctly or at least to the best of my knowledge.  I have no problem with any of programs that I am running, graphically speaking.

RE: Different Appearances in a Model

Yeah...Dell. I'm on my second M90 and both came loaded with the wrong video card driver. You might want to double check that the driver you're using is an approved SolidWorks driver.

Thanks again for the response.  I will double check it, but this is the only piece of software in the computer that gives me any trouble.  The other dozen or so programs run great and many are graphics program.  Go figure.
