Dear friends,
I would like to know about the generalization most oil industries use for accounting erosion problems in furnace tubes. In other words how do you quantify the erosion index in furnace tubes, currently we are using product of mineral content in the feed and squared tube velocity.

I am a bit confused with your post, you are obviously not burning minerals in your furnace, which are causing a great erosion problems indexed with the tubes square velocity. Can you describe your process more detailed? Try shorter sentences.

Our feed to the furnace is diluent bitumen (mineral conten ranges from 0.4 to 0.8%). Furnace is having 6" tubes and we are heating the feed from 550 to 650 F (approx vaporization of 15%). Let me know if you need more details.
