ansys and femap

(OP)
Hi all,

totally disappointed from the ansys GUI, I was thinking to have a look to femap to be used as a pre and post for ansys.
Anyone has some experience? What is possible to control directly by femap and what has to be controlled by ansys?
Impressions?

RE: ansys and femap

The Ansys GUI is quite functional once you learn it.  However, the learning curve is relatively steep.  I always find most programs relatively difficult at first to use...just me though.  Give it sometime.  Plenty of tutorials online to help you out at first.

RE: ansys and femap

I used Femap as a preprocessor for Abaqus up until 2 years ago.  It was very capable however seemed to be a couple of releases behind for new features.  For these minor unsupported features a modification of the input file usually was a  simple workaround.  I see no reason why Femap would not have a very similar performance with Ansys.  Grab a free trial of Femap and see for yourself.  Hope this helps.
