How to Manage part windows while working

How to Manage part windows while working

How to Manage part windows while working

(OP)
I am fairly new to NX4 and need some help with the following issue.  I open up a main assembly to do some work with the model, then I open up a part here and a part there to work on.  A couple of hours latter it seems like every part in the whole assembly is open in its own window, some I have opened and some NX4 has "mysteriously" opened.  Is there a way to manage this problem?  Is there a command to close all windows at once?  Also when I close one window, it takes me back to the gateway page of NX, so I have to go up to the window tab and find what part I want to work on, which is 9 times out of 10 the assembly I just came from.  Is there a way to make NX4 go back to the last opened window upon closing one window.  Then when I close down a part, it also blanks it out of any assemblies that it belongs in, leaving me to go through and click those little boxes to reload the part.

Any ideas from anyone?  Thanks

RE: How to Manage part windows while working

if you "close" a part, it WILL close it in that session, it sounds to me like you only want to flick between "windows" to display another part not close them.

When you want to switch between parts, just use, "window", select "more", then chose from the list, then when you go back to an assembly, they'll all still be there.

RE: How to Manage part windows while working

Starting in NX 5 you can set a Customer Default that will control what happens after you Close a single part file.  If this option is left toggled OFF, it will behave as it does today, that is if you Close the currently displayed part it will default the display to the No Part state.  However, if this option is toggled ON, then if you Close the currently displayed part, it will default the display back to the last part you had displayed before you changed to the part that you just Closed.
