How to model stress wave?

How to model stress wave?

How to model stress wave?

(OP)
Hi, my analysis is a full transient model with a pulse load input on one face of a rectangular specimen. I have used 4 step inputs for this, ramp loading, constant load for a certain time period, ramp removal, and zero load for certain amount of time.

How do i display a contour animation of this stress wave passing through the material?

thanks!

RE: How to model stress wave?

To answer your first question: Use an explicit time integration code.

Otherwise, to animate your results within Ansys I believe the ANTIME command will do just as you wish.  I don't have a copy of the documentation in front of me though.  If that doesn't do it you should be able to find it under the /POST1 commands listing somewhere.
