Fun project- clean sheet ICE design

Fun project- clean sheet ICE design

(OP)
I've been bored lately, and decided to design/build an engine from the ground up. I've got over a decade of experience building racecars and rebuilding engines. I've also got 5 years of experience as a machinist and access to the tools required to build it.

Where can I find books or references on internal combustion engine design, specifically formulas to calculate the stresses and required dimensions for the rotating assembly/block?

I've got an idea for a basic layout and desired power output. My thought process is to; work forward from the required volume of air/fuel to create the necessary force on the piston to create the required output, Running the rough numbers- taking into account a safety factor and frictional/thermodynamic losses, and building a scaled down functional model once I find numbers I like, if possible.
