NX 5.0.2.2 Lock ups

NX 5.0.2.2 Lock ups

Has anyone had a problem with NX5.0.2.2 locking up ?

My PC keeps locking up. Will be trying to select something in a sketch and everything just stops !

If I CTRL-ALT_DEL, to bring up the Windows Task manager the cancel It lets go and I can continue.

PC is a Dell Precision 490 with a Dual Core XEON, 4GB Ram, FX3500 and running XP32Sp2

Have tried a later Graphics driver, Still a problem

Anyone got any suggestions ?

RE: NX 5.0.2.2 Lock ups

You won't quite address 4Gb of ram with XP32. Set your memory usage settings according to the recommendations for 3Gb. But I doubt this is causing your hang ups.

There have been occasional reports of a few teething problems with NX-5 on this forum. I'd troll back through the recent posts to see if there are similar posts about the release you're on.

Next and most important UGS aren't doling out patches that you may need unless you contact them about the problem. It seems that when and if you log a problem that there is a patch for then they will send you the update. So you need to report this to get a fix if one is available.

Best Regards

Hudson

Lunar7,

do you have any Standard Holes created with new Hole feature introduced in 5.0.2.2?In that case select some feature before it and "Make Current feature".After that
go to the end with "Make Current Feature".Now try edit that sketch.

RE: NX 5.0.2.2 Lock ups

And if it is the new holes (NX 5.0.2.2) that are the problem, also go into Modeling Preferences and change your undo marks to 1.  After that, before you attempt to edit your model, do an Edit -> Feature -> Playback... and do a complete update.

RE: NX 5.0.2.2 Lock ups

Is there a known issue with standard holes on 5.0.2.2?

I have had a few problems after adding holes to a component in the context of an assembly.  One lockup, and another case where my model turned invisible in the assembly, except for for the cosmetic threads.

RE: NX 5.0.2.2 Lock ups

Yes, there is a known problem with the "new" hole module in 5.0.2.2. You must set the Features/Mark to a value of 1. In addition, running Feature Playback after this change is advisable.
This problem should be fixed in 5.0.3.

RE: NX 5.0.2.2 Lock ups

Thanks guys - I had some wierd experiences that seemed to start when I added holes to a part.

I'll try the workaround.

UPDATE

We seem to have solved this problem,

Removed the Microsoft Intellipoint 6.1 Mouse driver and things seen to be behaving

RE: NX 5.0.2.2 Lock ups

I had a bug in NX4, and now with NX5, where, you are working away, and then you can't seem to select any icons, and it's sort of frozen, let's say, you've gone into sketcher, then you can't get back out....All you need to do, is go into your work window, do a right click, and you'll get the wrong dialog box, next to your cursor, it says " timestamp order" etc, etc,
Then you just click away from that box, and you're back in business...
It seems like its got its nickers in a knot, and the box it shows you should only come up when you're in the assembly navigator, this fix works EVERY time
