exhaust leak in combustion chamber inspection door.it is a sailing ship.pls tell, what can be done during sailing as temporary repair. also what can be done after stopping boiler at port.

RE: boiler

armat;
I would not think of telling you to use a temporary repair on a combustion chamber inspection door because these become permanent repairs over time. When you sail into port, find a reputable marine boiler repair shop and have the boiler inspected and fixed. It could be a crack in the door, or a high temperature gasket replacement, or your combustion chamber is about to fail from use over time or even something more significant.

still 15 days more left to port, till that what could be done. presently i have tied a ceramic rope on the circumference of the door from where it is leaking. it is a big door about 2m in diameter. suggest any other ideas.

RE: boiler

Can you determine what is causing the leak?  That might help us to be able to offer 'tips.'  Is the door warped, or is the boiler wall, is it material build up from improper combustion (slagging, soot???).  What pressure does the furnace operate at?  Give us some help so that we can help you.
