Solid Surface Replace

Solid Surface Replace

Solid Surface Replace

(OP)
Hi,

I have received an import file from the client as a solid geometry. I have done a lot of work on this imported file. Now the client has sent some igs file as a surface geometry as the changes in the profile  of the previous geometry. Now I have to replace these new profile ( only less than 10% change in old profile) with the old profile.

I am trying to apply " replace surface" in the offset command to replace the new surface, but it is failing.

Pl. let me know any other good approach is availabe to replace the solid surfaces with new igs surfaces with out any effect of my work done on the first imported geometry.

I am using wildfire-2.0

Any good suggestions are highly appreciable.

Thanks

RE: Solid Surface Replace

Sarvar,
What I suggest is to make a surface copy off the new profile in the new iges file and include the unchanged adjoining surfaces as well. do a save as iges chossing quilts and selecting only the copied quilt using the co-ordinate system.
Insert the IGES file you just created in the file you worked on in the first place. Make sure that there are no gaps in the quilt. You should get the edges of the imported quilt exactly on the solid (neither in nor out of the solid) once you choose the the quilt and solidify it should give you the option to do a patch. This will replace the geometry with the quilt. You would have then to blank the quilt on a layer.
It may sound a bit confusing. If you need further help let us know

Thanks Joeborg for the suggetsion in fact I tried the same way, since the new input data has lot of gaps, it is not able to solidfy. I would like to try the same way once again and let you know the results.

Thanks
