Straight reduction pipe after deluge valve

Straight reduction pipe after deluge valve

(OP)
Hello,
I´ve been observing a deluge system and have come across a doubt that no one has been able to explain it in a satisfactory way yet. It's an onshore deluge system. the circuit is as follows:
After the 4" deluge valve installed vertically I have a 4" locked open blocking valve, 3 90° elbows for making the pipe direction horizontal, an excentric reduction (4 x 1 1/2"), a straight galvanized pipe (schedule 160) of 1 1/2 " of about 1,5 meters long, another excentric reduction (4 x 1 1/2") and finally the 4" non-galvanized Schedule 40 pipe that goes undergroud to provide water to the sprinkler system.
My question is why this straight pipe of 1 1/2" is installed?
anyway...thanks in advance.
Pipo
