Can someone give me an idea on how to solve this:
two reactions take place in constant temperature, constant volume vessel:
reaction 1: A >> B+C
reaction 2: 2C <=> D for this reaction Kp = 4bar^(-1)
Determine the reaction rate constant of reaction 1. Only A is present at the start.
t[min] Ptot[mbar]

60 1222
90 1296

Thankyou very much

RE: Chemical reaction kinetics
In any case, you can, by using algebra, solve for one of the partial pressures of one of the components (e.g. C). Then by molar balance solve for all the other components at any given time of the reaction. I assume the rate equation would be based on A and is probably first order. A log plot of A partial pressure versus time would show rate constant.
