Add 2nd leader to diameter dim ?

Add 2nd leader to diameter dim ?

(OP)
Is there a way to add a second leader to a diameter dimension? So one dimension can point at two features

RE: Add 2nd leader to diameter dim ?

I don't know of a way to do that with actual dimensions, but you could "cheat" by using a note which references the dimension and points to multiple places.

cheers

RE: Add 2nd leader to diameter dim ?

Its not available because per standards, you shouldn't point to two diameters with one dim. Point to one with the correct tol and GD&T, indicating qty.

I do not dissagree with you, but most of my SolidWorks work is to support a tooling development team. I often create partial tooling prints and in many cases they do not comply with any formal standard because I need to expedite the work. If I used GD&T and other formal practices for this kind of work, I'd be looking for a new job. I'm no stranger to design standards, but I do not have the luxury of time within our fast paced development team. It's kind of like a "less is more" approach. I give them less information and they produce more and faster. In this case I have a tooling assembly that needs WEDM work done to two .0150 dia pins, but not the .0160 pins in the same plate. So I dimensioned one pin to verify its diameter and edited the dim text to spell out the WEDM fit and process instructions, then I just wanted to add an additional leader to point directly to the other pin.
Thanks for your response, I appreciate your comments.

Put in your dimension then highlight the dim. Hold the ctrl down, pick the end of arrow point, drag another line.

What type of dim did you use? For a standard diameter dim, this process does not work for me.

RE: Add 2nd leader to diameter dim ?

It has to be a manually placed dimension, not an Insert > Model Items one.

cheers

RE: Add 2nd leader to diameter dim ?

I did a manual placed dim. Did it change for 08?

I used a Hole wizard hole

RE: Add 2nd leader to diameter dim ?

Don't have 08 loaded yet.

Are you using the single-arrow-leader (note style) dimension or the two-leader-line (goal post) type?

cheers

RE: Add 2nd leader to diameter dim ?

Smart dimension, then manually add dia dim (single arrow).

RE: Add 2nd leader to diameter dim ?

This was added to 2007....you can drag the dimension leader to other holes as long as they are the same size.

Thanks Jason. The "same size" part I missed.
